• Wage per class Amount : 150000 yen ~ 180000 yen

  The salary will be about 25,000 to 30,000 yen per month (depending on experience and qualifications), and will be payable for six months, although teaching will only last about four months. This amounts to 150-180,000 yen per semester, and since there are 15 classes in the semester pay is roughly equivalent to 10,000-12,000 yen per class.

  Ph.D. / Doctor

  A PhD in a relevant area of Islamic studies is strongly preferred, but well-advanced doctoral candidates are also encouraged to apply.

  Previous university-level teaching experience is strongly preferred but not essential.

  The candidate should have native-speaker or near-native-speaker-level English communication skills.

  Others : Unfortunately, this position does not carry any entitlement to holidays, health insurance or pension. Travel expenses will be paid for a distance of up to 110 kilometers from the Totsuka campus. Please note that classes are scheduled to be held in person, not online, so there is no point applying if you live outside the Kantō region of Japan.

  Smoking is prohibited throughout the campus except in specified areas well away from the main teaching and research areas, so there is no risk of second-hand smoking to non-smokers.

  This position will before the 2025 academic year, and the successful candidate will be able to chose whether to teach in the spring or fall semester of 2025. (Our semesters are fifteen-weeks long. The spring semester goes from April 1 to the end of July, and fall semester goes from the third week of September to the end of January 2026.)

• 選考内容

  Following the application deadline, the search committee will review the files and then invite selected candidates to an interview. This step will also include a short teaching demonstration.
