Evolutionary Neurobiology Unit is proposing projects for a researcher on neurodevelopmental and cell biological studies of early branching animals including cnidarians, placozoans, ctenophores and sponges). These animals are useful especially for studying early evolutionary processes of the nervous system, germ cells, and basic morphological and physiological nature of animals.

Position Summary:
Evolutionary Neurobiology Unit is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. We are performing developmental, biochemical, cell biological, and bioinformatics studies using early branching animals including cnidarians, placozoans, ctenophores and poriferans. These animals are useful especially for studying the origins and early evolutionary processes of basic morphological and physiological nature of animals. Research topics include, but are not limited to,

1.EvoDevo studies of nervous systems of early branching animals
2.Experimental and theoretical studies of asexual growth patterns of early branching animals

1.Designing and executing experiments independently and in collaboration with the other members
2.Contributing substantially to publications in high impact journals
3.Supervising the students and interns
4.Taking part in the management of culture of our model animals
5.Helping our laboratory management (overview and maintain research instruments and equipment).

1.A suitable candidate should have a PhD in evolutionary biology, developmental biology, or related discipline.

1.Experience and background on bioinformatics, computational biology or similar fields
2.Experience in microscopy, computational processing and quantitative analyses of image data is an advantage
3.Because of the Evolutionary Neurobiology Unit is interdisciplinary, the candidate will be integrated into a collaborative environment and is required to have an excellent command of English together with strong communication skill and self-motivation. The candidate should be proactive, service-oriented team player willing to help other members
4.Working experience in international and interdisciplinary environment is an advantage
