In the field of "XR (AR/VR/MR)", which is one of the fundamental technologies supporting the realization of "KDDI Accelerate 5.0", KDDI's next-generation social concept, we are looking for new researchers who will take on the challenge of creating new experiences by realizing technologies that reconstruct and transmit the entire physical space including people and objects in virtual space with a high level of presence and realism, and technologies that provides an immersive experience in a metaverse space as if you were there or meeting someone face-to-face.

[Job description]
You will be expected to engage in work that generally corresponds to one of the following areas. R&D work includes academic presentations, patent applications, technical verifications through system prototyping, and external promotions. International standardization work includes proposal preparation, patent application, writing contribution documents, and negotiations with external parties.
1. R&D and international standardization of compression technology related to video, 3D point clouds, and 3D meshes
2. R&D of technologies for reproducing five-sense information such as images, sounds, and haptics (including system implementation such as PoC)
3. R&D related to immersive XR space creation to enhance the experience of the metaverse

[Required qualifications]
･Major in science and engineering
･Ph.D or both a master's degree and business experiences (several years)
･No significant difficulty in speaking, reading and writing in Japanese
･No significant difficulty in reading and writing in English

It is desirable to have advanced knowledge or experience regarding any of the following:
･Programming experience in Python, C/C++, etc.
･Image processing and computer vision (Point Cloud Library, OpenCV, etc.)
･Patent application
･International standardization activities
･Game engines such as Unity and UnrealEngine, etc.

･Fixed-term employee: Contracts are renewed annually and up to 5 years for postdoctoral researchers (up to 3 years for other researchers)
