[Description of the institution]
Research Center for Water Environment Technology (RECWET) promotes cutting-edge research in a cross-disciplinary and agile manners on development of water quality control technology and new material, water system management such as sewer infrastructure development and urban flood risk management utilizing IoT sensing technology, and international water environment issues related to water and sanitation, to promote water environment research and research on water infrastructure in super-smart societies based on international common goals such as SDG6 "Clean Water and Sanitation" and SDG11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities". We have strong collaborative networks with U-Tokyo researchers in the field of water and promote joint research with water business and industry. Furthermore, we aim to become a core center in the field of water environment, such as making recommendations to water sector of Institute of Future Initiatives.

[Job description]
RECWET is looking for a post-doc researcher who will be involved in either one of the following studies. While the post-doc takes part in one of the research divisions, he/she is supposed to actively interact with the other divisions as well as the other researchers in the university.

(1) Division on Water Quality Control Technologies and Materials Development
Cutting edge research in any of the following research area;
1) Development of materials for water treatment (membranes etc.),
2) Multi-component analysis of organic pollutants in water,
3) Measurement and control of microorganisms in water.

(2) Division on Water System Management
Propose sewer system management methods to upgrade urban inundation countermeasures in consideration of climate change. The research approach could include precipitation forecast, forecasting inland water and river water flooding and storm surge, model analysis of urban inundation, optimization of facilities operation and inundation risk evaluation using ICT technologies with sensor, IoT, AI and big data.

(3) Division on International Water Environment
Propose improvement strategies to achieve Goal 6 of SDGs on water and sanitation from the viewpoints of water governance, international aids and small water supply technologies. The research approach could include the identification of the issues to be solved to achieve goals for the regions or countries based on the data provided by WHO/UNICEF as well as the information on the internet and SNS, and field survey.

As soon as possible after October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021

[Renewal of Contract]
The contract is renewable on a fiscal year basis (from April 1 to March 31; every year) contingent upon all relevant factors, including funding status, job performance, work record and medical conditions. Contract is until March 31, 2024 at the longest.

Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.

[Wages, etc.]
Annual Salary System applies and monthly paid salary will be range of JPY 340,000 to JPY 420,000 including performance / achievement allowance. (The salary will be decided taking your qualifications, capacity, experience etc. into account. Commuting Allowance (basically up to JPY 55,000)

[Insurance]
You will be automatically enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and Employment Insurance.

[Disaster compensation]
Work-related accidents and commuting accidents are covered by the Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance Act and the University of Tokyo's Teacher and Staff Act Non-Compliance Accident Compensation Regulations.
