[Job description and required qualifications (all of the following must be satisfied)]
(1) Main research interests are Britain and/or Ireland, or Japan in the field of humanities who can teach classes on comparative culture in these areas.
(2) Able to teach university-wide English language and culture-related courses offered to all Doshisha students at all levels. Experience in English education is an advantage.
(3) Holder of a Ph.D. degree awarded by March 31, 2023.
(4) Nationality does not matter. However, candidates should have English as their mother tongue or possess an equivalent level of English proficiency (the ability to draft and proofread English documents related to work at the same level as a native English speaker).
(5) Sufficient Japanese proficiency to perform education and administration-related work (participating in meetings, drafting documents, entrance exam-related duties, etc.).
(6) Willing to relocate to the Kinki area after hiring.

[Compensation]
･Salary, research funds, working hours and holidays are clearly stated in the Doshisha University Regulations.
･The mandatory retirement age is 65.
･Benefits include health insurance (administered by the Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan), pension, and employment insurance.

(2) Three academic publications in Japanese or English (including the PhD thesis). Each should be accompanied by an 800-character summary in Japanese).
(3) Cover letter, explaining your previous education, research and administrative work-related experiences and how you plan to contribute to Doshisha University and the Faculty of Global and Regional Studies, both in Japanese (approximately 3000 characters) and English (approximately 1500 words).

(5) Copy of the latest diploma (If diploma has not yet been issued, please submit other certification of your degree status)

9. Screening process
(1) Screening procedure
First screening: Based on the above submitted documents.
Second screening: (Beginning of August) We will ask those who have passed the first screening to submit all the academic publications (both PDF format and originals) listed in the CV and will conduct a new screening.
Third screening: (End of August or beginning of September) Interview with those who have passed the second screening. In the interview, we will also evaluate the candidates` mock lesson presentation (an online interview is also possible).
(2) We will ask to see the original of your diploma at the time of the interview.
(3) Transportation expenses for the interview will be set and covered by the faculty according to regulations of the university.
(4) Successful candidates will be notified of the result as soon as the selection process is completed.
