[Job details]
We are inviting applications for a Professor or Associate Professor position. We are recruiting a researcher who has all of the qualities necessary in the area of mining engineering, geotechnical engineering and mining informatics for smart mining. After hiring, the appointee will participate in various activities in the Faculty and Graduate School of International Resource Sciences, and International Center for Research and Education on Mineral and Energy Resources of Akita University.

[Research fields]
Mining engineering, geotechnical engineering, mining informatics and something related to smart mining technology.

[Work contents]
(1) Research and development of mining engineering, mining informatics and something related to smart mining technology such as automation and AI utilization for mining fields.

(2) The appointee will take part in educational and research activities at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The appointee may also participate in activities of various committee, administrative and international works in the faculty and graduate school of International Resource Sciences, as well as the International Center for Research and Education on Mineral and Energy Resources of Akita University.

[Lectures to be taught]
(1) Undergraduate: Mineral Resources Development and Production, Laboratory work for Earth Resource Engineering and Environmental Science, Practices in Resource Development, Resource Science Field Work Abroad (including coordination and field leader for students)

(2) Graduated School:
Master's Program: “Mine Geotechnical Engineering"
Doctoral Program: “Advanced Mine Geotechnical Engineering"

All classes have to be taught in English. Details of course work and class name will be decided upon appointment.

Qualifications

1) International applicants will be given preference.

2) Applicants should hold a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree.

3) Applicants should have high ability and eagerness for research, education and international activity.

4) Applicants should have sufficient knowledge, experiences, techniques, description, passion for promoting creative and innovative research with a focus on the mining engineering fields.

5) Applicants should take charge of practical training subjects including overseas field work as well as lectures and research instruction in English.

6) Applicants should have high-level knowledge and skills for mining engineering and resource development.

待遇
Compensation

1) Salary and other all treatments (compensation)
According to the Employment Regulations of Akita University and other official regulations.
*The discretionary labor system is applied.
De facto working hours: 7 hours and 45 minutes per day
* Retirement age: 65

2) Insurance and holiday
Insurance: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Mutual Aid Association, Employment Insurance and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance

[Application method and materials]

(1) Curriculum vitae (education after high school and working experiences with a photo and e-mail address, degrees attained, current affiliations, academic prizes or grants, awarded and research activities, etc).

(2) List of research achievements: Doctoral thesis (title, date, degree attained, and a summary), peer-reviewed papers, articles presented at international conferences, books, reviews, patents, awards, and competitive research funds (research grants). Please make a separate list for each item. Provide full references, including title, authors, journal/proceedings, volume and pages.

(3) Copies (reprints) of major journal-papers (not exceeding 5).

(4) Summary of research and educational contributions and achievements, including international fieldwork, investigation, various activities and academic communication with research institutes / universities, etc. (use 10.5 points font, within 1000 words or up to 2 pages)

(5) Plans for future research and education, including a research proposal and an educational concept for students regarding resource development and mining engineering (use 10.5 points font, within 1000 words or up to 2 pages).

(6) List of two reference persons with contact addresses.

[Selection Process]
In the first screening, all application documents will be carefully reviewed.
