5. Job description and Responsibilities
(1) Conduct your own research
(2) Give lectures at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Graduate School of Arts and Letters, or Graduate School of Environmental Studies); this is a light teaching load.
(3) Conduct administrative tasks for the Center.
(4) Promote International Collaboration with other academic institutions

Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Area Studies and Humanities, Social Sciences (must be obtained by the end of September 2022).
2. Required to have enough proficiency in Russian and English for research and academic exchange
3. Required to have Japanese language proficiency both for research and administrative tasks
4. Nationality is open
5.Desirable to be enthusiastic in the Area study of Northeast Asia Regions
6. Desirable to have field work experience
7. Desirable to be open to research collaboration with other disciplines, including the natural sciences

Compensation

1. Salary: in accordance with Tohoku University employment regulations, and commensurate with experience. The gross salary (before taxes) will be 6 million yen.
2. Allowances: available, in accordance with Tohoku University employment regulations (e.g., commuting allowance, housing allowance, unemployment Insurance, workmen's compensation insurance)
3. Social health insurance: covered by The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Mutual Aid Association
4. Working hours: in accordance with Tohoku University employment regulations. Discretionary labor system based on the rule from Monday to Friday, starting from 8:30 to ending 17:15.
5. Holiday: Saturday, Sunday and National Holidays, plus 29 December to 3 January
6. Paid Vacation: Annual paid leave (personal holiday), Sick leave, and Special leave.

2. List of Academic Publications in A4 size sheet. (i: Refereed article, ii: No refereed article, iii: Book chapter, iv: Book, v: other publications, vi: presentations and lectures, vii: awards)
3. Reprints of academic papers and/or books: selected 3-5 items maximum with numbers consistent with the publication list.
4. The summary of your research and the related research (max. 1500 words)
5. Statement of planned research activities at CNEAS (max. 1500 words)
6. Two reference letters. Name and contact information of two academic referees. We will approach your referees as necessary.
