The mission of Environmental Geosphere Engineering Laboratory is to deepen and accurize Geo-scientific and technical understanding of the Earth crust, a source place of natural resources.

[Job details (duties, subject responsible for, etc.)]
For the mission of the laboratory, (1) distribution modeling of mineral, energy, and water resources using advanced mathematical geology and Earth measurement methods, (2) chemical properties and flow mechanism of crustal fluids, and (3) multiple crustal structures on geology and physical properties have been researched and clarified. The major of successful candidate is resource geology, engineering geology, geochemistry or any other geoscientific fields dealing with clarifications of geochemical and stable/radio isotopic properties of crustal fluid resources (such as groundwater, hydrothermal fluid, and gas), fluid-flow mechanism, water-rock interaction, and mass transport phenomena by field survey, chemical analysis, and numerical simulation.

A successful candidate has (ⅰ) a degree of either PhD or Doctor of Engineering or Science in Earth resources or related academic fields, (ⅱ) distinguished research record in the areas of the mission of the division, (ⅲ) excellent educational experience in universities or research institutions, (ⅳ) ability and enthusiasm in the management of the division and the department, (ⅴ) ability of verbal and literal conversations in Japanese, and (ⅵ) ability to give classes in Japanese and English.

2) A publication list sectioned for (a) peer-reviewed or refereed journal papers with the latest impact factors, (b) peer-reviewed or refereed proceedings papers, (c) non-reviewed papers, (d) published or edited books or book chapters, (e) patents, and (f) competitive research funds with descriptions of “Principal Investigator," “Co-Investigator" or “Research Collaborator" (Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research etc.),
3) Reprints or copies of five papers representing the candidates' researches,
4) A concise personal statement in about 2,000 Japanese letters describing the candidate's research achievements,
5) A concise personal statement in Japanese describing the candidate's education experiences and academic society activities,
6) A concise personal statement in about 2,000 Japanese letters describing the candidate's future vision for research and education after the assignment in the Department, and
7) A list of two references with contact information to whom the University can ask for opinions on the research and education experiences of the candidate.

The Selection Committee qualifies all candidates, based on the documents submitted. An interview may be scheduled, if necessary, and will be informed of to selected interviews. Unfortunately, no traveling allowance will be provided to any of the interviewees. The final decision will be made by all professoriate members in the Departments of Urban Management and Civil and Earth Resources Engineering. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
