The Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, the University of Tokyo, has a long-standing history of cosmic ray study and astroparticle physics. We are seeking a candidate who will belong to the High Energy Cosmic Ray Division and perform experimental research on high-energy gamma-ray astrophysics. The institute is now leading the construction of an array of four CTA large-size telescopes (LSTs) on La Palma, the Canary Islands in Spain, aiming to further develop high-energy gamma-ray astronomy in the international framework of the CTA project. The array of four LSTs will be completed in 2023 and operated for more than 20 years.

We are looking for the person who will lead the construction of these telescopes, operate and maintain them in cooperation with the CTA Observatory, and play a central role in the organization, management, and science in CTA-Japan. The person shall have a strong motivation and leadership to achieve scientific results on cosmic ray physics, high-energy cosmic physics, and cosmic particle physics. The successful candidate is expected to be fluent enough in Japanese.

Compensation

Compensation: Basic Salary is defined in the University employment law. The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT and employment insurance.

Term: unlimited until age 65
