The Faculty of Law of Kyushu University inaugurated an LL.M. program in International Economic and Business Law in 1994. This was the first such course to be taught entirely in English at a Japanese university. The master's program has gradually evolved into the International Programs in Law, which currently offers graduate-level legal education in the following programs
1)The LL.M. (Master of Laws) is a one-year master's program taught entirely in English.
2)The Young Leaders' Program (YLP), a one-year master's program supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in the field of Law;
3)The Project for Human Resource Development (JDS) program, which is a two-years program sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) providing public officials from selected Asian countries with the opportunity to complete a master's degree at Kyushu University.
4)The Bilingual Master's Degree Program in Law (BiP), offering students the opportunity to engage in graduate level study of law in a bilingual environment at a law faculty in Japan.
5)The doctoral (LL.D.) Program which provides students the opportunity of preparing a doctoral thesis in English whilst studying at a Japanese university.

We welcome applications from scholars interested in any field of law, but we are particularly interested in international investment law, international arbitration law, international trade law, international environmental law and IT law. Within the field of IT law, we are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in artificial intelligence, platforms, or the sharing economy.

The Faculty of Law, Kyushu University is currently recruiting a scholar at the level of Assistant Professor (講師 - koushi or 助教 - jokyou) or Associate Professor (准教授 - junkyouju) in any field of law, but we are particularly interested in international investment law, international arbitration law, international trade law, international environmental law, and IT law. Within IT law, we are particularly interested in artificial intelligence, platforms, or the sharing economy.
1) Applicants should have the ability to teach, supervise theses, and conduct research in one of the above-mentioned fields of law.
2) Applicants should also take up committee work within the Faculty of Law and provide support to the International Programs of Law or the Faculty of Law when requested.
3) Applicants should have obtained or are expected to obtain a Ph.D. (or equivalent academic degree), or must be qualified as a legal professional. If not, applicants must show equivalent academic ability.
4) Applicants must be fluent in English.

Wages: Annual salary system (annual salary system introduced on April 1st, 2020). The annual salary will be decided according to the rules of the university based on each researchers' experience, etc.

Working hours: It is assumed that employees work 7 hours and 45 minutes per day due to the discretionary labor system for professional work.

Employment type: full-time
