Our department invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the School of International Health as an assistant professor. The faculty member will contribute to and co-lead virology and international health research, particularly in areas of molecular virology (virus-host interactions, molecular epidemiology, host immune response, bioinformatics), vaccine and therapeutics development. In addition to research, the faculty member will contribute to writing manuscripts and grants, co-lead and supervise projects and present at local and international conferences. Additional responsibilities include conducting lectures for undergraduate (in Japanese) and graduate courses, advising and supervising students and/or staff, and participate in faculty activities.

Qualifications |
1. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences/Virology/Microbiology/Molecular Biology or a related discipline at the time of appointment, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
2. Candidates must provide strong evidence of research of an internationally competitive caliber, in the area of virology, immunology, molecular biology or a related area as evidenced by a record of publications in leading journals in the field as well as presentations at significant conferences, accolades or awards.
3. The successful candidate will be expected to participate and mount innovative and competitive externally-funded research programs in the field of virology and/or developmental medical science.
4. Positive attitude, open-mindless to new challenges and environment, willingness to collaborate and good communications |
Compensation |
Working Hours: Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.
Days off: Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3)
Leave: Annual Paid Leave and Special Leave, etc.
Wages: Basic salary will be decided by taking your academic background, professional background, etc. into account. Wage Raise System: Yes Example: Doctor/form JPY 340,000 Doctor of Medical Science/from JPY 360,000 Various Allowances: Bonus (twice per year), Commuting allowance is JPY 55,000 per month at maximum, and other allowances decided by the University
Insurance: Eligible for the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Employment Insurance. |
