The successful applicant will be required to teach the following undergraduate courses:
(1) Lectures conducted in English: Contemporary Japanese Culture and Society (180 minutes × 15 sessions) and Principles of Sociology (180 minutes × 15 sessions).
(2) Sociology seminars and supervision of graduation theses conducted in English or Japanese.
(3) Methods in Sociology: A qualitative or quantitative social research methods course conducted in Japanese.

Description
All of the following criteria must be met:
(1) The successful applicant must have excellent research and teaching skills in English, as well as sufficient Japanese language proficiency to perform daily educational and administrative tasks.
(2) A Ph. D. or equivalent experience and academic publications.
(3) Academic publications based on long-term social research (either qualitative or quantitative) conducted in Japan.
(4) Residency in the Kansai region during the contract period.

(2) Japanese abstracts of your three most significant publications.
(3) A summary of your past research and a plan for your future research at Doshisha University (approximately two pages, written in Japanese).
(4) A one-page statement in Japanese explaining your educational philosophy at Doshisha University. Include details on what you wish to teach and how you plan to teach it in lectures and seminars.
Files 3-5: Your three most significant research publications
You may include your doctoral dissertation among them. Save each publication as a separate PDF file. For books or other lengthy works, you may submit excerpts of key sections, including the table of contents.
