Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The D3 Center, the University of Osaka invites applications for a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (Full-Time) or a Specially Appointed Researcher (Full-Time). The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, management, user support, and operation of supercomputing systems.
    The appointee will work at the D3 Center, participating in the large-scale computer system project primarily managed by the Advanced High-performance Computing Infrastructure Systems Research Division, and will also engage in research and development of high-performance computing infrastructure systems.
    Candidates hired as a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (Full-Time) will additionally be responsible for educational and research activities related to advanced high-performance computing systems.

  • Work content and job description

    -Managing and operational responsibilities related to the installation, maintenance, administration and operation of supercomputing systems and campus infrastructure interacting with supercomputing systems.
    -Research responsibilities related to the advancement and development of the above-mentioned systems and operations.
    -Operational responsibilities of JHPCN and the mdx project (joint collaboration among 9 universities and two institutions in Japan)

    [In the case of Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (Full-Time), in addition to the above, the following responsibility is included.]
    Research and education related to fields such as High-performance Computing (HPC), Cloud Computing, Computer system, System Software, and Information Network.

    -Remuneration is determined according to the duties assigned to the successful applicant based on the applicant’s career and other qualifications.

    -Housing, dependents and retirement allowances and bonuses will not be paid.

    (2)Research achievements in the research fields described in “5 Specialized Field”.
    (3)Japanese language skills sufficient to perform the job duties.
    (4)Experience in the operation and management of computer systems or networks, and interest in the installation, maintenance, management, user support, and operation of supercomputing systems.
    (5)Ability and willingness to work in cooperation with faculty members and researchers of the D3 Center, and vendor engineers in charge of supercomputing system administration, and to carry out the job duties responsibly.

    (1)A master’s degree (including those who are expected to obtain one by the starting date) or possess equivalent abilities or achievements.
    (2)Japanese language skills sufficient to perform the job duties.
