募集の背景、プロジェクトの説明
Our laboratory investigates proteostasis network pathways that safeguard cellular and tissue integrity following protein damage. A central focus of the group is understanding how these pathways promote cellular repair, tissue resilience, and organismal health during aging. We are pioneers in the emerging field of primate proteostasis, and were the first to examine how primate-specific adaptations in protein quality control networks influence cell repair mechanisms and contribute to human disease, protein aggregation, and age-related decline.
Transplantation biology is a cornerstone of modern medicine with profound implications for healthy aging. The long-term success of cell and tissue transplantation depends not only on immune compatibility, but also on the intrinsic ability of transplanted cells/tissue to withstand proteotoxic stress encountered during isolation, engraftment, and long-term tissue integration. Impaired proteostasis severely compromise transplantation outcomes and may directly limit graft longevity and function. Understanding and enhancing cellular resistance to protein damage therefore represents a fundamental opportunity to improve transplantation success and durability, with broad implications for regenerative medicine and age-related disease.
In close collaboration with world-renowned clinicians and scientists at Bio2Q and Keio University School of Medicine, our group is leading efforts to modulate cell and protein repair pathways to enhance cell/ tissue transplantation outcomes. Our work explores a novel and transformative dimension of transplantation biology, with the potential to significantly improve the longevity and resilience of transplanted biologics.
仕事内容・職務内容
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to lead this innovative research program at the interface of proteostasis and transplantation biology. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in stem cell biology, cell/tissue transplantation biology, advanced imaging, and animal (mouse) work. This position offers a rare opportunity to define a new research direction with high translational relevance, enabling rapid and impactful discoveries that could substantially improve transplantation outcomes and promote healthy aging.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator and engage in active collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and basic scientists. These collaborations provide access to state-of-the-art technologies, experimental systems, and clinical perspectives, allowing the candidate to acquire valuable skills and establish a strong independent research profile.
