Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The Field of Agricultural and Forestry Socioeconomics aims to conduct international assessments of agricultural and forestry management practices that enable the sustainable use of farmland, forests, and water resources, as well as the dynamics of markets for agricultural and forestry products and ecosystem services; to quantitatively evaluate the spillover effects of new agricultural and forestry technology diffusions; and to propose optimal policies.
    For this recruitment, we are seeking a faculty member who can address challenges related to the realization of a sustainable global society by analyzing the latest trends in Japanese and international agricultural and forestry policies and economic conditions, as well as the agricultural and forestry environment—which is subject to fluctuations due to climate change and other factors—from international, social, and economic perspectives, and who can disseminate these findings internationally in the form of policy recommendations.

  • Work content and job description

    As a faculty member of the University of Tsukuba's Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences, you will be in charge of research, education, and organizational management for College of Agro-Biological Resource Sciences, Degree Program in Agro-Bioresources Science and Technology, and Degree Program in Agricultural Sciences. The courses you will be in charge of are as follows.

    1) College of Agro-Biological Resource Sciences (Undergraduate Program):
    Seminar on Fundamentals of Agricultural and Forestry Policy Studies
    2) Degree Program in Agro-Bioresources Science and Technology (Master’s Program):
    Seminar in Agricultural Economics and Sociology IS, IF, IIS, IIF
    Research in Agricultural Economics and Sociology IS, IF, IIS, IIF
    3) Degree Program in Agricultural Sciences (Doctoral Program):
    Dissertation in Rural Development Economics I, II, III
