Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University conducts research and education in data engineering and related fields, including machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), data mining, information retrieval, recommender systems, and digital libraries, within the Intelligent Design division, while also promoting collaborative research and social implementation. We seek candidates who are highly motivated to engage in research and education in these fields.

Research fields include data engineering, Web informatics, digital libraries, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, recommender systems, tourism informatics, and support for academic information access using large language models (LLMs). -
Work content and job description
(1)Education and research at the Graduate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology: The successful applicant will be expected to conduct their own research and assist in supervising graduate students’ research in master’s and doctoral programs.
(2)Education at the School of Engineering: The successful applicant will be expected to teach laboratory and practical courses in computer science for the Information Technology Course and the Information Technology Advanced Track, and to assist in supervising undergraduate research projects.
(3)Assistance with organizational management at Okayama University. -

Annual Salary : 5 million yen ~ 7 million yen
Basic annual salary and Performance-based annual salary : Assistant Professor 5,802,000-6,708,000yen, *Only for a person with PhD
Salary: An annual salary system is applied. The amount of annual salary is determined in consideration of the person’s educational background, work experience, etc. according to the Okayama University annual salary Regulations.
The percentage of annual performance pay depends on the length of service within six months prior to the base date (June 1 and December 1), and the performance rate varies depending on the results of the evaluation.
As allowances, commuting allowance, support allowance, housing allowance, adjustment allowance, etc. will be paid separately to the applicable employees.

Working hours :08:30-17:30
Holidays : Saturdays and Sundays, national holidays, and December 29 to January 3 (Article 42, paragraph 2 of the Personnel Work Rules)
Overtime and other explanations : If the employee agrees to the application of the discretionary work system for specialized work, working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day. Overtime work is not required in principle. Day-off work may be required. (Articles 41 and 42 of the Personnel Work Rules)

Description
(1) Hold, or be expected to obtain, a doctoral degree in a related field.
(2) Have excellent research achievements in a related field.
(3) Have a strong commitment to education and research, and be willing to actively engage in international exchange and industry-academia collaboration.
(4) Be able to give lectures, conduct education, assist in research supervision, and provide international education for graduate students in both Japanese and English.
