Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Division of Advanced Materials and Process Engineering, Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University, conducts research and education in polymer science. Major research areas include functional polymer materials, environmentally friendly materials, and novel soft materials. The Division also promotes fundamental research, industry–academia collaboration, and the translation of research outcomes into practical applications. We seek candidates who are highly motivated to conduct research and teach in these areas.
    Research fields include polymer science, polymer chemistry, functional polymer materials, environmentally friendly materials, soft materials, polymer synthesis, polymer processing, polymer characterization, and related fields.

  • Work content and job description

    The successful candidate will assist with undergraduate education, including lectures and laboratory courses, and provide supervision for undergraduate research projects. The candidate will also assist in the research supervision of master's and doctoral students in the Department of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Graduate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology. In addition, the successful candidate may be assigned to teach specialized undergraduate and graduate courses, and will be expected to contribute to administrative and other service-related duties within the University.

Wages

  • Annual Salary : 5 million yen ~ 7 million yen

    Basic annual salary and Performance-based annual salary : Assistant Professor 5,802,000-6,708,000yen, *Only for a person with PhD
    Salary: An annual salary system is applied. The amount of annual salary is determined in consideration of the person’s educational background, work experience, etc. according to the Okayama University annual salary Regulations.
    The percentage of annual performance pay depends on the length of service within six months prior to the base date (June 1 and December 1), and the performance rate varies depending on the results of the evaluation.
    As allowances, commuting allowance, support allowance, housing allowance, adjustment allowance, etc. will be paid separately to the applicable employees.

Working hours

  • Working hours :08:30-17:30

    Holidays : Saturdays and Sundays, national holidays, and December 29 to January 3 (Article 42, paragraph 2 of the Personnel Work Rules)

    Overtime and other explanations : If the employee agrees to the application of the discretionary work system for specialized work, working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day. Overtime work is not required in principle. Day-off work may be required. (Articles 41 and 42 of the Personnel Work Rules)

    2) The applicant must have a strong commitment to education and research.
    3) The applicant must be capable of teaching courses and providing research supervision at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
