Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Department of Intelligent Mechanical Systems, Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University is inviting applications for a position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track). Possible candidates are detailed below.
    - A person with experience in operations research, such as systems optimization, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, algorithms, soft computing, machine learning, scheduling, and their applications to social systems, including logistics, scheduling, and transportation systems.

  • Work content and job description

    The position involves teaching advanced mechanics experiments and other lectures at the School of Engineering. The successful applicant is expected to assist with supervising master's and doctoral students at the Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology. Depending on their expertise, they may also be required to teach liberal arts education courses and specialized education courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. They will further be in charge of organizational management tasks at the university.

Wages

  • Annual Salary : 3 million yen ~

    Basic annual salary and Performance-based annual salary : Assistant Professor 3,938,000-6,390,000yen
    An annual salary system is applied.
    The amount of annual salary is determined in consideration of the person’s educational background, work experience, etc. according to the Okayama University annual salary Regulations.
    The percentage of annual performance pay depends on the length of service within six months prior to the base date (June 1 and December 1) , and the performance rate varies depending on the results of the evaluation.
    As allowances, commuting allowance, support allowance, housing allowance, adjustment allowance, etc. will be paid separately to the applicable employees.

Working hours

  • Working hours :08:30-17:30

    Holidays : Saturdays and Sundays, national holidays, and December 29 to January 3 (Article 42, paragraph 2 of the Personnel Work Rules)

    Overtime and other explanations : If the employee agrees to the application of the discretionary work system for specialized work, working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day. Overtime work is not required in principle. Day-off work may be required. (Articles 41 and 42 of the Personnel Work Rules)

    5 years from the day of arrival at the new post.
