The research mission of the Construction Engineering and Management Laboratory encompasses the study of (1) soil mechanics and geo-mechanics, (2) geo-environmental engineering, (3) geo-construction engineering, and related fields.
仕事内容・職務内容
The educational mission of this position is to contribute to the International Course Program of Civil Engineering at the Undergraduate School of Civil, Environmental and Resources Engineering, Kyoto University. The successful candidate will be responsible with other faculty members for teaching “Soil Mechanics I and Exercises”, “Soil Mechanics II and Exercises”, “Experiments on Soil Mechanics and Exercises”, “Geoenvironmental Engineering”, “Rock Engineering”, and “Computer Programming in Global Engineering”, which are offered by the Faculty of Engineering. Additionally, the candidate will be required to teach “Scientific English II”, “Introduction to Earth Science A”, “Practice of Basic Informatics”, and “Introduction to Engineering Geology”.
The Laboratory's research activities are closely aligned with to those of the other geotechnical engineering laboratories: “Geofront System Engineering”, and “Environmental Infrastructure Engineering (Global Environmental Studies)” in the Department of Urban Management, and “Geomechanics” and “Geotechnics for Hazard Mitigation (Disaster Prevention Research Institute)” in the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering. The “Construction Engineering and Management Laboratory” is therefore expected to collaborate with these laboratories on research and educational initiatives undertaken by the Department of Urban Management, the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering, and the Undergraduate School of Civil, Environmental and Resources Engineering’s International Course Program, as well as contribute to the management of school-related duties.

Annual Salary : 7 million yen ~
勤務時間
Working hours :08:30-17:15
Break time :12:00-13:00
Holidays : Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays, Foundation Day, and summer vacation.
Overtime and other explanations :
Full-time employment in a discretionary work system, based on 7 hours, 45 minutes (8:30-17:15 work schedule with a one-hour break) per day, 38 hours 45 minutes per week.
If the discretionary work system for specialized work is not applied, work 5 days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (break 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Overtime may be required.

The successful candidate possess: (i) a PhD or Doctor of Engineering/Science degree in geotechnical engineering or a related field, (ii) a distinguished research record aligned with the division’s mission, (iii) academic and/or practical experience in universities or research institutions, (iv) the ability and enthusiasm to manage the International Course Program and the department, (v) strong verbal and written communication skills in English, and (vi) the capability to deliver lectures in English.
