  Ph.D. / Doctor

  A PhD in Biology, Ecology, or a related scientific discipline

• 業務における経験

  (Required)
  1. Research experience in one or more of the following fields, microbial ecology, microbiome science, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem ecology.
  2. Evidence of scientific productivity in the form of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  3. Strong science writing and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  5. Willingness to learn new skills and conduct field and/or laboratory research in remote areas.
  6. Commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable working space for diverse members through constructive, open-minded, and kind approaches.
  
  (Preferred)
  1. Experience generating and analyzing amplicon sequencing, meta-transcriptomic, metagenomic, metabolomic, stable isotope probing data.
  2. Computational expertise, including development and/or implementation of bioinformatics pipelines.
  3. Bringing an exciting research idea, as in addition to the main role, you will be encouraged to establish an independent project to further pursue your own research interests that align with the unit's research areas and goals.
  4. Mentoring experience.

  Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed by taking into consideration the performance, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST’s financial and other circumstances.
