We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research group at the intersection of robotic design, soft/rigid robots, and foundation model-based design automation. The position is ideal for someone with a strong background in robotic hardware, mechatronics, and a keen interest in exploring how large models (e.g., generative AI, foundation models) can accelerate robot development and control.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and prototype novel robotic systems (soft, rigid, or hybrid).
- Develop ML-based tools for simulation, control, or co-design.
- Conduct and publish independent research.
- Lead and mentor research projects with graduate students.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research (e.g., bio-inspired robotics, manipulation, locomotion).
Qualifications
Required:
- PhD (or near completion) in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, CS, EE, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience building robotic systems.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electronic prototyping.
- Programming skills (Python or C++), ROS, and simulation environments.
- Strong research background and publication record.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with foundation models, generative AI, or differentiable simulation.
- Experience with soft robotics or mechanical co-design.
- Interest in interdisciplinary and application-driven research (e.g., healthcare, IoT).
The scope of change is as follows: Displacement, concurrent service, and secondment may be ordered.

However, renewal shall be limited to one time until February 28, 2027.
Probationary period present
14 days from the date of hire.
