We are seeking researchers who can conduct comprehensive research and education on recovery and reconstruction following major earthquakes and heavy rain disasters, and disaster prevention and mitigation in preparation for natural disasters. We are also seeking researchers who can demonstrate their strength in research and empirical research that leads to the construction of social models in the field of the Noto Peninsula, such as emergency response in the event of a disaster, coordination between organizations during the reconstruction period, creation of health and medical welfare systems, and support for disaster victims.

Work content and job description
The successful candidate for the position is expected to:
(For Assistant Professor position)
- Conduct active research in the field of Related to Nucleic Acid Chemistry, Molecular Robotics, Oligonucleotide Therapeutics, Biotechnology in close cooperation with the relevant faculty member, Professor FUJIMOTO Kenzo;

- Instruct and advise students for their laboratory work in both Master’s and Doctoral Programs in close cooperation with the relevant faculty member, Professor FUJIMOTO Kenzo; and
- Give introductory lectures of Materials Science courses in cooperation with other faculty members.
(For Senior Lecturer position)
- Conduct active research and education in the field of Related to Nucleic Acid Chemistry, Molecular Robotics, Oligonucleotide Therapeutics, Biotechnology in cooperation with the relevant faculty member, Professor FUJIMOTO Kenzo;

- Give lectures of Materials Science courses;
- Supervise and instruct students in laboratory work in master’s programs;
- Supervise the laboratory work of sub-theme for the students of other laboratories;
- Render the university practical services including helping recruit excellent students, taking on committee work, and so on;
- Willingly assist their laboratory students in finding suitable career positions after graduation;
- Contribute to the society.

Work experience
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Possess a doctoral degree in a related field by the time of appointment;
- Excel in and be enthusiastic about education and guidance for graduate students in accordance with the Mission and Goals of JAIST;
- Have a proven record of expertise in conducting research in the field of Polymer chemistry, Biomaterial, Regenerative medicine, Chemical biology;
- Be capable of undertaking domestic and international research initiatives in competitive areas of advanced research;
- Promote joint research projects through collaborations with other researchers; and
- Be capable of giving lectures and supervising students in English (Fluency in Japanese is appreciated but not mandatory). Possess the ability to communicate globally in English and/or Japanese. -
Description
Applicants who have obtained a doctoral degree as of starting date (October 1, 2026) are eligible for either of the positions as follows:
Assistant Professor: Have obtained a doctoral degree within five years before the starting date (on or after October 2, 2021).
Senior Lecturer: Have obtained a doctoral degree over five years before the starting date (on or before October 1, 2021).
