Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The Department of International Tourism at Nagasaki International University has introduced three courses (Tourism Management, Sports Tourism, and Global Tourism) to deepen students' professional learning with the aim of fostering human resources who can play an active role on the global stage.
    The "Global Tourism Course" is looking for a native English speaking faculty member who can teach courses in English and also deliver English-related content courses. The "Global Tourism Course" course aims to foster global human resources by targeting TOEIC L&R level 730 or higher at the time of graduation. Students enrolled in this course are required to study abroad in an English-speaking country two separate times. This will be for about a month during the first year and for three to four months in the second semester of the second year.

  • Work content and job description

    In the "Global Tourism Course" of the Department of International Tourism, you will oversee some of the following subjects each semester.
    In addition, the candidate will perform other necessary duties including various committee work and also responsibilities related to entrance examinations.
    (1) Duties: Education, research, social contribution, student guidance, etc.

  • Education and Degree Requirements

    Ph.D. / Doctor / Master

    Applicant must meet the following requirements:
    (1) Hold a doctoral or master's degree or have equivalent research achievements and a background in academia.
    (2) Be a native English speaker. 
    (4) Have excellent research achievements as well as excellent character, insight, and cooperativeness.
    (5) Possess the ability to collaborate with full-time faculty members and part-time lecturers at the university to promote education.
    (6) Capability to handle administrative communication and student support in Japanese.
    (7) In accordance with the provisions of Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act (Special Provisions Concerning Measures Concerning Female Workers), women will be actively hired
    if they are deemed to have equal qualifications during the selection process, as a measure to improve the current situation where the proportion of female teachers is considerably smaller.

Selection / Notification of result

  • Selection

    ・1st screening: Document screening
    ・2nd screening: Those who pass the first screening will be screened at the university.
    In the second screening, the candidates will come to the university in principle, but depending on the circumstances, interviews and mock lessons will be conducted via Zoom. A mock lesson (about 15 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session of about 5 minutes) and an interview will be conducted about their aspirations for education, the content of research in their field of specialization, and the outline of the research they are aiming for at the university. The applicant is responsible for the expenses. The second screening will be conducted by around January 15, 2025. )

  • Notification of result

    ・The results of the first screening will be notified by Saturday, December 28, 2024.
    ・The results of the second screening will be announced by Wednesday, January 20, 2025.
