[Description of the institution (year of establishment, capital amount, number of employees, etc.), details of the business, recruitment background information, project description, etc.]
Innoqua was founded in 2019 by an aquarist who is one of Japan's leading coral breeders and an engineer who used to conduct AI research at the University of Tokyo.
Aquarists are people who keep fish, shellfish, and even corals at home, and are so-called aquarium hobbyists.
By combining the power of people who love nature and conduct research based on their curiosity with IoT and AI technologies, we are conducting research and development of "Biosphere transfer technology" that can reproduce an artificial ecosystem in an aquarium.
Our corporate philosophy is "continuing to see the nature we love". We aim to create a world where people and nature can flourish by using ”environmental transfer technology” to make the options available to mankind.
We are also engaged in marine research projects that enable various oceanographic studies without having to go to the site.
In 2020, we conducted on-site research on the heavy oil accident off the coast of Mauritius, and in February 2022, we succeeded in the world's first artificial spawning of coral in the aquarium. We are also conducting experiments with DIC Corporation on the use of phycocyanin to inhibit coral bleaching, and with JFE Steel Corporation on the use of slag to inhibit coral bleaching, as well as evaluating the impact of sunscreen on coral and other marine life when it flows into the ocean.
In the future, we intend to strengthen our experimental system and expand our business overseas, including Southeast Asian countries that have coral reefs.
[Job description (work / duties after recruitment, subject responsible for, etc.)]
Research planning, management and implementation. Reporting on the results.
At our Kansai Lab, we're focused on "carbon cycling," a critical theme that leverages marine ecosystems, especially coral, to generate new value like blue carbon. We're deeply passionate about research that enhances the inherent value of coral, with a long-term vision spanning the next decade. We're seeking individuals who share this vision and are eager to help us forge the future together.
Specifically, we will advance the following research and development areas:
・Basic research on coral skeletons and ecology
・Technological development to improve coral growth efficiency
・Applied research for marine structures and artificial coral reefs
・Elucidation and optimization of coral carbon fixation mechanisms
In the future, we aim to implement carbon fixation technologies in society. This will involve developing data sales apps and software based on these research findings, and collaborating with component manufacturers.
