Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

     "Mathematical Prehistory of Homo sapiens -Modeling the Cultural Evolution during the Range Expansion of Paleolithic Modern Humans"
    This project aims to introduce mathematical sciences to archaeology and build a new interdisciplinary field of research "Mathematical Prehistory". As a case study, the project studies the dispersal of modern humans into Eurasia and the extinction of archaic humans. The project core members consists of two archaeologists, one earth scientist, one ethnographist, and two mathematical scientists.

    (a) have published research papers in some of the following fields
    (a1) the theory of cultural evolution
    (a2) mathematical biology
    (a3) population genetics
    (a4) applied mathematics such as reaction diffusion system and stochastic process
    (a5) theoretical archaeology
    (b) actively communicate with archaeologists, earth scientists and ethnographists
    (c) be fluent in English
