General Education Course: This subject is decided through a university-wide approach under university regulations. Specifically, after being hired, the applicant will be assigned to a subject committee in his/her field of specialization and will teach a subject according to committee's requirement. The applicant may also have to teach a “Basic Seminar” course.
Supervision of doctoral course students is plausible after passing the required qualification examination by the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University.

Qualifications
Applicants must:
(1) Have a doctoral degree
(2) Those who have outstanding achievements in the field of plant breeding or related fields and can conduct research for useful crops from the field to the molecular level.
(3) Those who can solve problems in the field of agriculture for Tohoku region.
(4) Have the ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students and promote advanced research work
(5) Have Japanese and English language proficiency at or above a level required for teaching and supervising research work
(6) Have the ability to serve in organizational operations as a faculty member of Iwate University

Initial tenure is for 5 years. Please note that an interim evaluation will be conducted after three years of joining, and a tenure review will be conducted before six months prior to the expiration date of the tenure-track faculty member's term. Tenure (Assistant professor, with tenure) will be granted if all the tenure requirements by the Iwate University is fulfilled during the 5-year term.
In case of a particularly outstanding candidate, based on the evaluation results, the eligibility for granting tenure may be discussed during interim evaluation.
