Administrative Duties:
Responsible for duties related to the administration of the department study abroad program, including but not limited to, overseas travel to international conferences and to maintain partnership relationships as well as supporting outgoing and incoming international students. In addition, responsible for entrance examination related work, undergraduate and graduate school administrative support work, and other duties as prescribed by the Faculty Dean and/or Department Chair.
Academic Duties:
College of Intercultural Communication and Graduate School of Intercultural Communication Global Studies-related courses and other courses, such as Cultural Exchange, Academic Skills, Specialized Seminars, Research Guidance, Master’s Thesis Research Guidance, and university-wide general subjects. Responsible for teaching and education-related matters, and research-related matters pursuant to the discipline area of Global Studies.

Annual Salary : 9 million yen ~ 9 million yen
Based on Rikkyo University rules. The base annual salary is calculated on the number of years passed since graduation from undergraduate studies. In the case of 15 years since graduating, the base salary would be approximately between 8.5 and 9 million yen. Personal circumstances, such as the presence or absence of dependents is also considered. Additional allowances for some administrative duties may also be paid. Research funds are offered. Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, workers compensation insurance, and employment insurance are offered.

Possible working hours are 8:50-18:50 (1st period 8:50-10:30, 2nd period 10:45-12:25, 3rd period 13:25-15:05, 4th period 15:20-17:00 and 5th period 17:10-18:50). Actual working hours depend on the teaching classes, faculty meetings, and other matters necessary as faculty members.

Description
(1) Ph.D. in a relevant field.
(2) Experience teaching at the university level.
(3) Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate school classes and provide thesis guidance in English, and preferably with experience teaching students who use English as a second or other language.
(4) Ability to contribute to the Global Studies portion of the curriculum of the faculty and graduate school.
(5) Ability to perform work related to the administration of study abroad programs (including, for example, outgoing and incoming student support and guidance and institutional-level program maintenance).
(6) Ability to perform work related to the operation of the PEACE Program under the College of Intercultural Communication CIC and Dual Language Pathway (both of which place an emphasis on curriculums conducted in English).
(7) Have the Japanese language skills necessary for various university duties and operations.

(1)Provide 3 published articles/chapters of research (photocopies are acceptable). At least two of the submitted publications are to be in English; the other can be published in Japanese.

(3) Provide an original syllabus that you have or could use that you believe would fit the College of Intercultural Communication undergraduate curriculum within the area of Global Studies (e.g., Cultural Studies, Multiculturalism, Intercultural Studies, Migration Studies) to show how you would approach the course along with a one-page explanation (maximum length, double-spaced) of the student outcomes of your course. Submit this in English.
(4) Provide a one-page statement (maximum length, double-spaced) regarding the importance of teaching about the intersection between Global Studies and Intercultural Communication. Submit this in English.
(5) Provide a one-page statement (maximum length, double-spaced) regarding any study abroad-related work and/or administrative duties you have experienced. Submit this in English.

The application process is based upon documentation review and interview. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by September 13, 2024. Interviews will be conducted at the end of September of 2024 and will be conducted in English and Japanese. Interviews can be arranged to take place online via Zoom if necessary.
Note: Applicants who are currently overseas are welcome to apply. However, the selected candidate will be expected to have completed all necessary documentation for employment–including any necessary visa documentation–and relocated to Japan no later than April 1, 2025.
***Transportation expenses for in-person interviews will not be paid.
