Background of the recruitment and description of the project

The chemistry-related departments of Division of Chemical Science and Technology, Graduate School of Engineering announce the recruitment of a female Assistant Professor (Seiran Program*). Promising female researchers regardless of any nationality are encouraged to apply for the position.
*Seiran program is a young faculty development program at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University.
Work content and job description
Kyoto University Operations (Education, Research, Administration)
The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following tasks:
1. Conduct innovative and internationally advanced research in the candidate’s areas of expertise within chemistry and related fields; examples include physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, polymer chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical science and engineering.
2. At the Graduate School of Engineering: provide the research guidance to the graduate students in the laboratory. At the Faculty of Enginnering: teach the the undergraduate course (experiments and exercises, etc.) of Undergraduate School of Chemical Science and Technology.
3. Assist the supervision of the thesis works of undergraduate and graduate students

The successful candidate will belong to one of six chemistry-related departments (Department of Material Chemistry, Department of Energy and Hydrocarbon Chemistry, Department of Molecular Engineering, Department of Polymer Chemistry, Department of Synthetic Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering). Research and education will be conducted in cooperation with faculty members of the appointed Chair/Laboratory.

Overtime and other explanations :
Working hours: Seven hours and 45 minutes per day, 38 hours 45 minutes per week under a discretionary work system.
If the discretionary work system for specialized work is not applied, work 5 days a week from 8:30 a.m.
to 5:15 p.m. (break 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Overtime may be required.
