Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Those work is being carried out under the "WPI-Advanced Institute for Marine Ecosystem Change(WPI-AIMEC, Director: Toshio Suga)," a world-class research center program jointly hosted by Tohoku University and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology(JAMSTEC). This takes initiative in part of the Adopting Sustainable Partnerships for Innovative Research Ecosystem "ASPIRE for Top (in the field of biosciences)" funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The research project, titled " Research and development of integrative analyses for marine ecosystem change and establishment of an ocean brain-circulation platform " (December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2030, Principal Investigator: Fumio Inagaki), focuses on the development of young researchers and the promotion of international brain circulation. The international coordination will mainly involve collaboration with the USA and Germany.
If hired, a candidate will be required to perform the above duties on a full-time basis. (For example, the applicant cannot engage in research activities as a principal investigator of a Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research or in educational activities such as lectures for students.)
Work content and job description
The candidate will be expected to engage in the following tasks
(1) Nurturing young researchers: In collaboration with WPI-AIMEC and the Tohoku University International Joint Graduate Programs in Environmental and Geosciences (GP-EES), support the education and research activities of young researchers (graduate students and postdoctoral researchers) and provide international coordination support for overseas training, etc.
(2) Promoting international brain circulation: Supporting international coordination tasks such as logistical adjustments and Travel Cost procedures for various domestic and international committees and related events
(3) Support for various reports and evaluations related to the ASPIRE project
(4) Public relations and outreach activities related to the ASPIRE project
・High level of English proficiency is essential.
・Depending on the tasks, business trip to Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) or other organizations is required.
