  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    This is a professor position announcement at Structural Materials Science Course, Department of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Sciences (FES), Kyushu University (The deadline has been extended to 17:00 JST, January 13, 2025).

  • Work content and job description

    Research area and mission: The successful candidate should have in-depth knowledge of the mechanical properties, microstructures and their control of solid materials, such as metals, alloys and their composites. The candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research using advanced methods in experimental and/or computational materials science and to lead his/her research area.
    Educational activities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at IGSES for graduate students and at the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering in the School of Engineering (IENG) and Faculty of Arts and Science (KIKAN) for undergraduate students in the following topics: metallurgy, physics, and materials informatics. The candidate will also be responsible for teaching in the collaborative education program with Colleges of Technology (KOSEN) of IENG. The candidate will be required to supervise both Japanese and non-Japanese students at the undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. levels.

Wages

  • Annual Salary : 7 million yen ~

    Salary: Annual salary. The amount of the annual salary shall be determined in accordance with the salary regulations for faculty members of Kyushu University.

Working hours

  • Working hours :08:30-17:15

    Break time :12:00-13:00

    Holidays : Holidays: Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, and December 29 – January 3.

    Overtime and other explanations : Working hours:Based on the agreement, the employee is considered to have worked under the Discretionary Labor System for professional work (7 hours and 45 minutes per day as deemed working hours).

  • Education and Degree Requirements

    Ph.D. / Doctor

    Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant science or engineering field; have a proven track record of accomplishment in their field of expertise and the ability to develop new research; be actively involved in teaching at IGSES for graduate students and SE and KIKAN education for undergraduate students in the following areas: metallurgy, physics, and materials informatics; have English communication skills necessary for international teaching and research; nationality is not required, but applicants should have the ability and willingness to engage in teaching and research supervision and project management in Japanese.
