Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
This institute has been conducting research on environmental rehabilitation and conservation as a collaborative research group among multiple universities since 1990 in Japan and Thailand. However, recognizing the importance of activities in environmental rehabilitation and conservation that contribute to the sustainable use of natural resources, it was deemed crucial to engage in activities beyond research, such as local dissemination of research findings and environmental education initiatives. Therefore, rather than remaining confined to research activities as a research group, it was decided that engaging in research and outreach activities as a nonprofit organization was essential. Consequently, the NGO Institute of Environmental rehabilitation and Conservation (ERECON) was established in April 2000, and it acquired specific nonprofit organization status in 2002. In addition to its headquarters in Tokyo, it has established the Southeast Asia Office in Thailand and the Cambodia Branch in Phnom Penh, as well as the Philippines Branch in Bohol, providing continuous support to local farmers and schools through research conducted in various target areas such as Cambodia, Thailand, etc.
This institute comprises Extension Center, Research Center, and Administrative Center. The Research and Extension Centers are staffed with highly specialized personnel, adjunct researchers, and registered specialists who, under the guidance and support of directors, mainly university professors, collaborate with networks of domestic and international universities, foreign government agencies, and international organizations, utilizing various networks to conduct research and outreach activities. In particular, the Research Center, certified as a grant-handling organization by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on March 21, 2013, continues to conduct research and verification of appropriate technologies in basic surveys and outreach projects.
