Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Center for Culture and Language Education at TOHOKU UNIVERSITY, is currently seeking candidates to teach English courses as outlined below.
Work content and job description
The successful candidate will collaborate with other faculty members to carry out tasks related to the implementation and management of the English curriculum and will teach English courses. They will also be involved in:
(1) Research on and practice of English language education at the university level
(2) Research, development, evaluation, and improvement of our English education programs
(3) Additional work at the Center for Culture and Language Education and the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education

Annual Salary : 6 million yen ~
Salary shall be determined in accordance with the staff salary regulations, taking into consideration the academic background, licenses and qualifications, work experience, etc., and balance with other staff members.

Holidays : Saturdays and Sundays, holidays provided for in the National Holidays Act and the period of days from December 29 to January 3 of the following year

(Deemed working hours: 7.75 hours/day)
Additionally, according to what is set forth in Article 34 of the Labor Standards Act, each employee should take break time.

Education and Degree Requirements
Ph.D. / Doctor
Ph.D. or its equivalent in English education or a related field, or equivalent qualifications
Work experience
Extensive experience in teaching English language at a university level
Description
a) Candidates must have necessary educational experience and research achievements to fulfill the responsibilities described above and also have the enthusiasm and ability to effectively and collaboratively advance English language education reform.
b) Ability to teach all levels of classes based on proficiency, and in principle be available to teach during any time slot.
c) High-level proficiency in Japanese is preferred, regardless of the applicant's country of origin. (If available, please submit a copy of the score certificate for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or other equivalent qualifications.)

(3) A written statement outlining your specific ideas on "what your strengths and weaknesses in English education are, including how you have addressed those weaknesses and what you have learned in the process" (around 2,000 characters in Japanese or around 1,500 words in English).
(4) One letter of recommendation
(5) The name, affiliation, and contact information of an additional individual who can provide insight into your qualifications, separate from the recommender mentioned in item (4).
(6) If Japanese is not your first language, please submit a copy of your score certificate from the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or an equivalent exam, if available.
