Description

1. In principle, the candidate should hold a doctoral degree at the time of application.
2. The candidate must have sufficient research and educational experiences and achievements to provide project research
seminar/guidance and lectures in both Master (MA) and PhD Programs of the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University.
3. Sufficient quality and quantity of research achievements to be able to provide research guidance in the doctoral program.

4. The candidate must have a proven track record in obtaining competitive external research funding, such as the Grants in Aid for Scientific Research by the Japanese government or equivalent distinguished professional grants.
5. The candidate should be able to conduct lectures and seminars fluently in both English and Japanese.
Please note that this may be exempted in the case of those who possess particularly distinguished research achievements or
professional experiences.
6. The candidate must be able to engage in the required administrative positions and duties at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific
Studies and the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies including other departments at Waseda University.
7. The candidate must be able to contribute to the research and educational activities of the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies and the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at Waseda University.

4. Social Insurance: the employee shall be enrolled in the Employee’s Pension Insurance, Health Insurance, Workmen's Compensation Insurance, and Employment Insurance.
5. Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, the end and the beginning of the year, national holidays, compensatory holidays appointed by Waseda University for holding classes on public holidays, and University Anniversaries (excluding days specified by the university on which classes are held).
6. Vacations: Vacations determined in acts such as Labor Standard Acts and Vacations determined by the university.
7. Retirement age: 70 years old

*Travel expenses to and from the Waseda Campus of Waseda University and accommodation expenses, if necessary, for the second screening will be provided by Waseda University according to University rules.
*Expenses for the meals during the interview for second screening will be paid by Waseda University according to University guidelines.
*Other expenses, not mentioned above, shall be covered by the applicant.
*The conditions of the travel/accommodation expenses and the details of the second screening will be provided to applicants who pass the first screening.

-First Screening – Application document screening
-Second Screening – For applicants who pass the first screening. The second screening will consist of a presentation of applicant’s research, a mock lecture, a Q&A session, and an interview, including a light meal, with the faculty members of the GSAPS.
*The second screening will be held in-person at Waseda University (Waseda Campus)
on June 29 (Sun), July 5 (Sat), or July 6 (Sun), 2025 (tentative).
*The second screening is expected to take roughly half a day.
*We ask all applicants to attend the second screening on the designated dates above. Although in excusable circumstances, we will consider to conduct the second screening on alternative dates between June 30 (Mon) to July 4 (Fri). Please inform us the available dates for the second screening through the online application form.
Notification of result
All successful applicants (1st screening) will be notified of the interview date and time, via email which is filled out in the application form, around June 10 (Tuesday), 2025.
