Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP) was established in 1957 as a national joint research institute at the University of Tokyo to promote condensed matter physics and materials science research in Japan. In 2010, ISSP was granted a license to operate as a joint research center and act as a center of excellence in condensed matter physics and materials science. Since its inception, Research, Human Capability Development, and Joint Usage are the core axes of our activities.

  • Work content and job description

    We are seeking a researcher who will promote materials science using soft X-ray spectroscopy at synchrotron
    radiation facilities, including the 3 GeV synchrotron radiation facility NanoTerasu, in collaboration with
    Professor Yoshihisa Harada. We particularly welcome highly motivated early-career researchers with a strong
    interest in advancing novel spectroscopic studies of solution systems and strongly correlated electron systems.
    The ideal candidate will actively contribute to mentoring and teaching graduate students, and to promote jointusage/research program.
    The scope of change is as follows: Displacement, concurrent service, and secondment may be ordered.
    However, in principle, such orders may not be issued against one's will. Details are in accordance with Article
    4 of the Regulations on the Employment of University of Tokyo Faculty Members.
