This is the application guidelines of One Associate Professor in Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering (Laboratory of Soil Physics and Soil Hydrology), Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo
Work content and job description
1)Research areas: Research on the elucidation and control of heat, water and mass transfer mechanisms in the pedosphere based on soil physics and soil hydrology
2)Teaching responsibilities for undergraduate course subjects: Lectures for undergraduate students must be given in Japanese: Soil Hydrology, Soil Mechanics, Soil Physics, Science of Soil Environment, Environmental Science of Water and Soil, Biological and Environmental Engineering Experiment III, Laboratory Work in Biological and Environmental Engineering, Graduation Thesis, etc.
3)Teaching responsibilities for graduate course subjects: Advanced Soil Physics, Advanced Soil Hydrology, Advanced Research in Biological and Environmental Engineering I&II, Laboratory Work in Biological and Environmental Engineering, Seminar in Biological and Environmental Engineering, Advanced Laboratory Work in Biological and Environmental Engineering, etc.
Scope of change: The faculty member may be reassigned, concurrently assigned, or transferred to another position. (In principle, such an order will not be issued against his/her will. For details, please refer to Article 4 of the Regulations Concerning the Employment of University of Tokyo Faculty Members.)

Various Allowances:Bonus (twice a year), Commuting Allowance (basically up to JPY 55,000 per month), and other allowances decided by the University
Working hours
Working hours :09:00-17:30
Break time :12:00-12:45
Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and year-end through New Year holidays (from December 29 to January 3 of the following year).
Overtime and other explanations : Discretionary labor system: Working hours is deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day, basically the above working hours.

Ph.D. / Doctor
1)Ph.D., an equivalent qualification.
Description
2)The applicant must have outstanding research achievements in the field of Soil Physics and Soil Hydrology, and must be able to conduct original and high-level research, as well as actively educate and supervise students.
3)The applicant must actively participate in the organizational management of the graduate school and the department, and collaborate with faculty members in diverse research fields in teachin and research.
4)The applicant must be able to teach the subjects listed in 2), 3) of Work content and job description in both Japanese and English. The applicant must have proficiency in Japanese.
5)The applicant must have ability and enthusiasm to actively develop educational and research activities from an international perspective and social collaboration with industry, government, etc.
