Full-Time Faculty Position (Associate Professor or Lecturer) in Japan Studies or Related Field
Work content and job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching five or more classes per week. Teaching assignments will consist of both Japan Studies-related and core Department subjects. These may include but are not limited to: Special Topics in Japanese Studies, History and Culture 2 (university-wide course), Advanced Thematic Reading (A)/(B), Introductory Seminar I/II, and Seminar. Course assignments may vary depending on departmental needs.
In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to contribute actively to departmental, faculty, and university administrative responsibilities, including service on various committees.

Annual Salary : 8 million yen ~ 10 million yen
Salary: In accordance with the university’s salary regulations. The following are model monthly salaries; actual annual salary will vary depending on professional experience, duties, number of dependents, etc.

Full-time Lecturer (age 30): ¥383,500/month

Education and Degree Requirements
Ph.D. / Doctor
A PhD in Japan Studies (日本研究) or a related field. Individuals with equivalent research achievements will also be considered.
Work experience
(1) Field of Specialization: Japan Studies (including fields that focus on Japanese culture, society, history, literature, anthropology, film, visual culture, art, performing arts, and related areas)
Research Profile: A record of scholarly publications in a Japan Studies-related field, including publications in English
(2) Research Profile: A record of scholarly publications in a Japan Studies-related field, including publications in English.
(3) Teaching Experience: University-level teaching experience (or equivalent) in Japan-related subjects
(4) Language of Instruction: Ability to teach university-level courses in English
(5) Language Proficiency: High-level proficiency in English and Japanese is required; however, native fluency in either language is not a requirement.

(1) First Stage
・Document screening

・An interview will be conducted in both Japanese and English. These interviews are scheduled to take place in mid-September.
・Candidates will be asked to submit a 14-week syllabus (in English) for a proposed course titled Special Topics in Japanese Studies.
・Candidates will also be asked to deliver a 20-minute mock lesson in English based on the submitted syllabus.
- Alternatively, a recorded video of a recently taught class may be submitted. This option will be offered when the interview is scheduled.
