Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The University of Tsukuba has established a university-wide recruitment system for 20 positions to strengthen its research capabilities, and will be accepting applications from women only. Of the 20 positions, 14 positions, which are intended for associate or assistant professors, will be open to all research fields at the University of Tsukuba, without limiting the fields.
    This is a positive action based on Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Law to improve the low ratio of female faculty members and to drive more innovative research and education.

  • Work content and job description

    You will belong to one of the organizations within the University of Tsukuba and engage in education and research as an Associate Professor or Assistant Professor.
    Basically, you will be engaged in research as a PI, but if you are hired as an assistant professor in some organizations (Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences, Center for Computational Sciences, Life Science Center for Survival Dynamics, Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA)), you will be engaged in research under a mentor.

    Exception 1) If you become affiliated with the Institute of Medicine, you may be hired as a tenure-track lecturer.
    Exception 2)If you become affiliated with the Life Science Center for Survival Dynamics, Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA), you will be hired as an Assistant Professor for a term of 5 years (maximum 10 years with one possible renewal).
    Exception 3) If you belong to Institute of Business Sciences, Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences, Institute of Systems and Information Engineering, Institute of Health and Sport Sciences or Center for Computational Sciences, you may be appointed as a tenured assistant professor.

    Probationary period present

    Six months from the date of hire.

    The work location for Library, Information and Media Science will be at the Kasuga Aria, and the work location for Institute of Business Sciences and a part of Institute of Human Sciences (in charge of Graduate School for Working Adults) will be at the Tokyo Campus.
    (In principle, there will be no change of work location during the employment period.)
