Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tsukuba invites applications for a junior academic position in Historical Geography. We seek a highly motivated early-career researcher who will contribute to both research and specialized education in the field of historical geography.

Teaching and supervising research and theses in the Graduate Program in Humanities.
Teaching and supervising research and theses in the Undergraduate Program in Humanities.
Teaching other courses as required by the above programs.
Participating in administrative and organizational duties related to the faculty and educational programs.

Ph.D. / Doctor
Applicants must have received specialized training in Human Geography and must hold a doctoral degree or expect to obtain one by the time of appointment.
Description
1. Applicants must have sufficient proficiency in Japanese to teach courses and carry out administrative responsibilities.
2. Proactive in conducting cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that bridges the humanities and natural sciences.
3. Experience or expertise in GIS-based research is highly desirable.
