Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Mission of ISEE and Division for Meteorological and Atmospheric Research: The Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE)1, Nagoya University, conducts studies to elucidate the mechanisms and interactions of various phenomena in the holistic Earth, Sun, and Universe system. The mission of ISEE is to contribute to solutions for global environmental problems facing humankind and to the progress of human society spreading into space through the integration of space science and earth science. ISEE plays a unique role in linking these disciplines as one of Japan's International Joint Usage / Research Centers2 and promotes a wide variety of collaborative research. To realize this mission, ISEE has organized seven research divisions, three research centers, and two offices. The Division for Meteorological and Atmospheric Research*3 conducts broad scientific researches on the atmosphere, which is deeply involved in global environmental issues, through the following two different approaches: one is physical and chemical approach based on spectroscopic remote sensing, in-situ observations, chemical analysis, and so on, and the other is meteorological approach based on state-of-art radars, numerical model simulations, and satellite data analysis.
