In this laboratory, we conduct research on information security and platform technologies―such as Internet technologies, network operation technologies, and federated authentication―as fundamental technologies that support society.

Work content and job description

The International Research Center for Neurointelligence (WPI-IRCN), based at the University of Tokyo Institutes for Advanced Study in Japan, is seeking post-doctoral research fellows who specialize in neurobiology/developmental neuroscience/social neuroscience and/or intelligent robotics/mathematical neuroscience and are extremely motivated and enthusiastic to participate in our new projects on "Social Brain" networks.

Recently, we have acquired a research grant ("International Leading Research") sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan, to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration across the world. This call seeks candidates who will conduct collaborative research (themes and locations described below) with one of our five international partners outside of Japan.

The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing student supervision and will engage in research with a strong emphasis on laboratory- and practice-based activities.
Work content and job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Teaching several undergraduate courses in the Urban Environment Program, such as:
Urban Environmental Disaster Engineering, City and Environment, Snow and Urban/Architectural Design, Environmental Disaster Simulation, Global Environment and Energy, Architectural Laboratory Courses, Urban Disaster Prevention Laboratory Courses
Supervising course seminars, introductory engineering seminars, and undergraduate thesis projects
Teaching graduate-level courses in related fields
Conducting research and participating in university service
Engaging in industry–academia collaboration using facilities including the large wind tunnel laboratory
Teaching equivalent courses from the previous curriculum as needed

Job description: Candidate’s area of research must be in the following area:
The staff in this position conducts research in the fields of naval architecture and ocean engineering, especially in structural mechanics, materials, and design. Based on these research areas, the successful candidate is also expected to conduct research that contributes to next-generation naval architecture and ocean engineering. Applicants need to have experience in research in the above academic area or related areas, and are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to research in naval architecture and ocean engineering.
The post holder will be responsible for teaching, including laboratory experiments, practical training, lectures, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in the Specialization in Systems Design for Ocean-Space.*
Alongside educational and research activities, the post holder is also expected to contribute to administrative duties.
* Regardless of whether the appointment is made at the rank of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, the post holder will be expected to serve as the principal investigator of a laboratory, manage its operation, pursue their own research, and supervise students assigned to the laboratory, including undergraduate and graduate students. However, if deemed necessary, the laboratory may be operated in collaboration with faculty members in related fields. Based on the post holder’s research and teaching achievements during the term of appointment, a review will be conducted for possible promotion to a tenured Associate Professorship.

This laboratory is seeking individuals who can conduct research and education on integrated circuit systems and their applications, with a view toward social implementation through industry–academia collaboration.
