Background of the recruitment and description of the project
<Business content>
In order to create safe and secure buildings and cities that can be sustainably developed, comprehensive researches,
education, and social activities on the improvement of resilience of the built environment, especially on the reduction
of the damage and impact owing to fires and/or natural disasters and on the decarbonization through the extension of
service-life of buildings and/or reuse of steel materials, etc. shall be conducted taking into account global
environmental issues.
Address the above content from the following three perspectives:
(1) Research activities: Standing on both "Sustainability" and "Safety and Security," which are the two
fundamental philosophies of the School of Environmental Studies, and considering global environmental issues,
conduct comprehensive researches from the perspectives of building structural engineering and urban
environment studies, and disseminate the outcomes domestically as well as internationally.
(2) Educational activities: Implement post-graduate recurrent education in collaboration with society through the
Transdisciplinary Environmental Studies Course of Graduate School of Environmental Studies.
(3) Social collaboration / contribution: Promote projects in collaboration with society, implement research
outcomes in the society, and engage in social collaboration/contribution in line with the philosophy of SDGs.

(1) Graduate school level
Lectures, exercises, seminars, etc. related to building structural engineering in master's and doctoral courses in
the Architecture Course of the Department of Environmental Engineering and Architecture, Graduate School of
Environmental Studies
(2) Undergraduate level
Lectures, exercises, experiments, etc. related to building structural engineering in the Department of
Environmental Civil Engineering and Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering

(1) Those who have a doctoral or Ph.D. degree,
Work experience
(2) Those who have advanced knowledge in building structural engineering and who can be in charge of education
and research in this field,
(3) Those who can conduct research on global environmental issues, standing on both "Sustainability" and "Safety
and Security," which are the two fundamental philosophies of the School of Environmental Studies, and
disseminate the research outcomes domestically as well as internationally. The research on the reduction of the
damage and impact to the built environment owing to fires and/or natural disasters and on the decarbonization
through the extension of the service-life of buildings and/or the reuse of steel materials, etc. are especially
appreciated,
(4) Those who can implement post-graduate recurrent education through the Transdisciplinary Environmental
Studies Course of Graduate School of Environmental Studies.
(5) Desirable to be able to promote social collaboration projects and to implement research outcomes in the society
under the themes of improvement of disaster resilience and/or development of decarbonized society, etc.,
(6) Must be able to give lectures and to instruct undergraduate and graduate students in English and in Japanese.
(7) Desirable to have experience of studying abroad, working on oversea projects, and/or organizing international
conferences.
