Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    To support research and development activities related to projects in exploratory research on wireless communications in extreme environments. The potential topics include:
    (i) Physical-layer technology using communication means other than radio waves
    (ii) Integration of novel electromagnetic devices and advanced signal processing,
    (iii) Quantum-resistant physical-layer security technology.
    The postholder will also be expected to lead the drafting and submission of papers to top international journals.

Wages

    Annual Salary : 5 million yen ~ 8 million yen

    To be determined in accordance with The University of Tokyo Regulations. A monthly payment of JPY450,000 per month or more,
    based on experience, achievements, etc., not exceeding JPY600,000 per month. (Including achievement allowance.) Commuting allowance is JPY55,000 per month at maximum.
    There is no pay raise system within the contract period.

Working hours

    Working hours :09:00-17:30

    Break time :12:00-12:45

    Holidays : ※Day offs: Saturdays and Sundays; Statutory public holidays of Japan; Year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 through January 3).

    Overtime and other explanations : Discretionary labor system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours 45 minutes per day, or 38 hours 45 minutes per week.

  • Education and Degree Requirements

    Ph.D. / Doctor

    Those who have obtained a doctoral degree or are expected to obtain it by the time they arrive.

  • Work experience

    ・Those who have knowledge and experience in the field of physical layer of wireless communications (signal processing, communication theory, wireless networking, or antenna/propagation).
    ・Those who can carry out research in collaboration with collaborators in the project.

    ※The first-year contract will be ended on March 31, 2025. The contract is renewable on a fiscal year basis (from April 1 to March 31; every year) according to the following relevant factors, such as budget status,
    progress of the work assigned, the amount of the work at the end of the term, applicant’s performance, work record, and attitude, and applicant’s medical conditions.
