2. Global contribution through disease control and health promotion in the tropics by applying the fruits of the research
3. Cultivation of the researchers and specialists in the above fields
The Department of Bacteriology at the Institute is seeking an Assistant Professor who can conduct research on pathogenic mechanisms of enteropathogenic bacteria, vaccine development, and molecular epidemiology.
Work content and job description
Our research focuses on the pathogenesis of enteric bacterial pathogens, including Vibrio parahaemolytics, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella enterica spp. We believe that understanding detailed mechanisms of bacterial pathogenicity gives us a clue to the development of effective vaccines and establishment of new treatment strategies without antibiotics.
(1) Elucidation of the mechanism of virulence of pathogenic Vibrio spp.
(2) Molecular epidemiological studies in endemic areas and identification of factors contributing to epidemics
(3) Analysis of the pathogenic mechanism of Salmonella and development of vaccines
We are looking for a "next-generation researcher who can take a leading role in one of these themes and develop research on bacterial infectious diseases endemic in tropical regions on a global scale using a bioinformatics approach". In addition to research activities, the candidate will also assist in educational activities such as lectures and practical training related to bacteriology and infectious diseases at graduate and undergraduate schools.
