Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hiroshima University herewith makes an open international job offer and seeks to appoint Associate Professor with tenure; Associate Professor/Assistant Professor on Tenure Track System in the research area of Social Studies Education.

(2)Undergraduate level (discipline specific courses): Teaching Method of Social Studies for the Elementary School,Social Science for the Elementary School,Introduction to Theories of Social Studies for the Elementary School,Graduation Thesis,Curriculum Development for the Elementary School,Practical Seminar for the Teaching Profession,Research Methods in Elementary School Curriculum,Curriculum and Teaching, Curriculum and Research, Pre-school Education and Environment, etc.
(3)Graduate level (master’s programs): Further Study in Learning and Curriculum Development,Special Study in Curriculum Development,Basic Study in Curriculum Design, Advanced Study in Curriculum Design, etc.
(4)Graduate level (doctoral programs): Special Study, etc.

(1)Hold a doctorate or an equivalent degree by the time the appointment begins
(2)Be able to supervise doctoral students in preparation of doctoral dissertations
(3)Have educational and research achievements that are compatible with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's examination for teacher training course certification
(4)Be able to teach classes and supervise students in Japanese and English
(5)Be desirable to have experience in teaching class and supervising research in schools
(6)Must have an outstanding research record in Social Studies Education
(7)Be able to lead Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cooperation with national and international institutions

(1)Tenure-track faculty members will undergo a tenure review at least six (6) months or more in advance of the expiration date of appointment, and those who have successfully passed the review process will be granted tenure along with promotion either to associate professor.
(2)Granting a candidate for tenure is subject to two reviewing process: an intermediate and final review. If a candidate is not granted tenure in final review, he/she will be dismissed from the university upon completion of the term of appointment.
(3)If a candidate has taken a leave because of some life events such as delivering a baby, child-raising and caregiving, he/she may extend the term of appointment up to certain period according to the length of such leave.
