    Research and educational activities related to the research on “Artificial generation of upstream maritime heavy rains to govern intense-rain-induced disasters over land” in the Moonshot R&D project (Goal 8)

    The selected person will need to address numerical experiments on weather control practices using the numerical weather prediction model (ideally WRF model); data analysis of weather and climate data; present the research through publication or conference presentation.

    Ph.D. / Doctor

    The person must hold Ph.D., or expect to obtain the degree by the time of appointment

  • Work experience

    (1)The person must be able to conduct research activities in English.
    (2)The person must have an interest and research achievements in one of the following research fields: earth and environmental sciences including meteorology, hydrology, and civil engineering, or mathematical and information sciences.
    (3) The person ideally has an experience in numerical weather modeling (e.g., experience in WRF model).
    (4) The person who has interest in climate change effects on regional weather is welcome.

    Recruitment period is until 31 March 2025, but it may be renewed up to the end of March 2028 at the maximum, depending on the progress of the work.

    Others : Salary is based on an annual salary system and is paid in accordance with the Tohoku University Salary Regulations for Employees.
