Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Global 30 International Program of Nagoya University Automotive Engineering Program seeks to fill a full-time, non-tenure-track position at The the level of Associate Professor. The successful candidate will work in the Graduate School of Engineering. As a full-time faculty, she/he will be expected to hold office hours, provide academic advising for students, and perform the normal duties associated with this program.

  • Work content and job description

    Possible courses that the successful candidate will be expected to teach "Mechanical Dynamics and Control Engineering" and "Advanced Lectures on Automotive Engineering". He/She will be expected to teach a maximum of about 8 lectures at the undergraduate and graduate courses. He/She is responsible for the education and research supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in the G30 automotive program.

    Break time :12:00-13:00

    Overtime and other explanations : Discretionary work system for specialized work: The basic working hours are from 8:30 to 17:15, with a 60-minute rest period, and the method of execution of work and time allocation (start and end times and rest periods) are left to the discretion of the worker. The work day is 7 hours and 45 minutes and is deemed to be a day of work.

    Required Qualifications
    1) Teaching experience in mechanical engineering and automotive engineering
    2) Demonstrated ability to teach students at both undergraduate and graduate levels
    3) Willingness to participate widely in the International programs of the university and administrative duties
    4) Strong inter-personal skills and evidence of effective interaction with students, faculty, administration, and the local community
    5) English fluency sufficient to effectively teach the above courses
    6) Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in automotive engineering or a related field
    Preferred Qualifications
    1) Experience working in a multicultural environment preferred
    2) Japanese language proficiency is welcomed though not required
    3) Research and development experience in automobile industry

Contract period

  • Nontenured - Non-tenure track

    The initial contract will start October 1, 2024 and terminate September 30, 2029 or start April 1, 2025 and terminate March 31, 2030 (however, this contract period may change depending on the date the contract begins). Contingent upon job performance and funding of the Global 30 International Program, the contract may be renewable for an additional 5-year term.
