Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Faculty of Law of Chuo University invites applications for a full-time tenured position to begin on 1 April 2025.

a. Teaching: mainly English classes, plus introductory seminar classes for first- and second-year students and lectures (liberal arts classes) taught in Japanese and English
b. Teaching: classes in the Distance Learning Division
c. Supporting students outside the classroom (study advice, career advice, teaching practice support, advice for studying abroad, etc)
d. Other duties required by the Faculty and the University using Japanese, including committee work, duties related to entrance examinations and the Distance Learning Division

Requirements and expectations
a. Candidates must either hold a PhD degree or have academic publications of an equivalent standard, with a minimum of one year’s full-time or part-time university teaching experience or, if non-PhD holders, must have a minimum of two years’ full-time or part-time teaching experience in higher education (university or college).
b. Candidates must not be enrolled as a student at any university at commencement of employment.
c. Candidates must not be a full-time faculty member of Chuo University.
d. Candidates must be proficient in Japanese and be able to take part in meetings and administrative tasks conducted in Japanese.

d. An essay in English (approximately 500 words) on your approach to English language education, including your experience of working with other teachers on English programmes
e. An essay in Japanese (approximately 1,000 characters) on how you would use your academic expertise to teach a seminar for first-year students and organize a short-term study abroad program/tour in the Faculty of Law
