Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The Division of Sensory and Cognitive Brain Mapping, led by Professor Hiromasa Takemura, performs system neuroscience studies to investigate the structural basis of visual functions, such as visual perception, using MRI-based neuroimaging techniques as a primary research method. In addition, the division not only performs human studies but also performs comparative neuroimaging studies by analyzing MRI data acquired from non-human primates to understand visual information processing mechanisms in detail.

  • Work content and job description

    (Upon hiring) We are looking for one person each to work with Professor Takemura to (1) advance physiological understanding of visual function by using psychophysical experiment as a primary method and (2) advance understanding of the structure-function relationship in the visual system primarily using MRI. The ideal candidate for (1) should preferably have experience in both physiological and psychophysical studies on the visual system, and the ideal candidate for (2) should preferably have experience in structural neuroimaging studies on the visual system using diffusion-weighted MRI or quantitative MRI, but these are not requirements.
    In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to actively engage in collaborative research with both domestic and overseas researchers and arrange research meetings and symposiums, which are the important mission of the NIPS. As a faculty member of the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), the successful applicant will be in charge of graduate education.

Wages

  • Annual Salary : 4 million yen ~ 8 million yen

    Salary will be determined in accordance with the NINS’s payment standards. Other conditions will be determined as stipulated by NINS.

Working hours

    Break time :12:00-13:00

    Overtime and other explanations : Discretionary Labor System(7 hours 45 minutes per day):Based on the staring time (8:30)ending time (17:15),allocation of working time shall be determined at the discretion of the Employee.
