Job description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
We are looking for an assistant professor who is expected to engage in research activities of KAKENHI Grant-in-Aid entitled with "Ethics of the technology of thought fusions and subject dissolution" within Transformative Research Areas (B) (FY2024-2026, Principal Investigator: Koji Ota). The successful candidate will be expected to cooperate in the work of related departments within the scope of research activities.
Work content and job description
The candidate will conduct humanity-and/or-social science research to address futuristic ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) surrounding the interaction between humans and technology. In particular, they will conduct research about values related to human mind and lives, or about ethical issues related to neurotechnology and artificial intelligence, in collaboration with project members in the relevant KAKENHI project.

Salary will be determined in accordance with the university's regulations. (e.g. annual salary 4,800,000 yen for 13th grade; 5,040,000 yen for 14th grade; 5,280,000 yen for 15th grade)

Break time :12:15-13:15
Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays
Overtime and other explanations : Monday through Friday; discretionary labor system (working hours are deemed as 7 hours 45 minutes for a day)

Doctoral degree (or submit a certificate of expected doctoral degree)
Description
Applicants must satisfy all of the following 1) to 5).
1) They must hold a doctoral degree (or submit a certificate of expected doctoral degree)
2) They must specialize in philosophy, psychology or informatics; and be able to conduct ELSI research related to advanced technology, utilizing their own expertise. (Previous experience in ELSI research is not required.)
3) They must have at least three peer-reviewed publications as a first or corresponding author, including papers written in English.
4) They must be open to knowledge and methodologies from other fields and be willing to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research activities.
5) They must have the ability to write in Japanese.
*However, the following individuals are not eligible to apply:
① Those who have been sentenced to imprisonment or more severe punishment and are still serving their sentence, or those who are on suspended sentence or who are not yet subject to the execution of their sentence.
② Those who have received disciplinary dismissal or an equivalent punishment and two years have not yet passed since the date of that punishment.
③ Those who do not have a residence status that does not restrict activities in Japan.
