Job description

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS; consists of Nagoya University and Gifu University) aims to become a regional, national and international development and research hub in the fields where the System can demonstrate its strong advantages and competitiveness.
    This position is for a designated assistant professor to promote interdisciplinary research on glycoscience and related fields by the iGCORE, Gifu University.

  • Work content and job description

    Responsible for the following research and research management tasks as a staff of Professor Masayasu Taki group.
    1. Development of molecular tools including fluorescent probes for functional analysis of glycans and other related biomolecules
    2. Interdisciplinary research within and outside the iGCORE
    3. Management of interdisciplinary research in iGCORE
    4. Education, outreach activities, and institutional service

Wages

Working hours

    Including equivalent degree conferred overseas, as well as prospective acquierers.

  • Work experience

    Qualifications:
    Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
    1. Ph.D. degree in relevant disipline (or equivalent degree conferred overseas. Include prospective degree candidates)
    2. Experience in the development of biofunctional molecules based on synthetic organic chemistry and have research achievements in chemical biology and related fields.
    3. Interest in imaging analysis of glycan functions.
    4. Capable of committing to interdisciplinary research on glycoscience and related fields by the iGCORE.

Selection / Notification of result

    Shortlisted candidates will be given a chance to make their presentations and undergo a formal interview in November or December, 2024 (planned)
    In the interview, applicants will present their research so far, and be questioned on the degree of research promotion efforts of the Institute, and demonstrable evidence of individual responsibilities, collaboration and interpersonal communications skills.

    Note: All travel/accommodation expenses and other incidental expenses incurred for the interview will be borne by the applicant.
